Electronics Plans and Specifications

 

 

The drawing sheets sizes, contents, and title blocks contained in electronics documents.

Drawing Sheets Sizes
Electronics plans and drawings shall be drawn on drawing sheets of the following sizes:

A0 size (841mm x 1189mm)
A1 size (594mm x 841mm)
A2 size (420mm x 594mm)
A3 size (297mm x 420mm)

Drawing Scale
Appropriate metric drawing scales shall be used.

Graphic Scale
Since the size of the drawings sheet can be changes photographically, graphic scale shall be shown on each drawing sheets.

Contents
The content of the plan shall have the following information:

♦ Location and Site Plans
♦ Legend and Symbols
♦ General Notes and or Specifications
♦ Floor plan of Head-end Facility
 

Shall show the dimension and layout of the following:
equipment racks, outlets, lighting, circuit breakers, electrical panel, ventilation and air-conditioning system, generator, battery bank, data center, control and monitoring equipment, studio facility, antenna system, doors and grounding system.

♦ Cable TV Distribution Layout
(Fiber, Coaxial, Copper Network)
The plan shall consist and indicate the specification, location, type, size, dimension, length, and run of the following:

For building installation - service entrance facility, head-end, data, equipment, cables, optical nodes, amplifiers, power supplies, splitters, couplers, inverters, taps, outlets, cabinets, hand-holes, manholes, pull boxes, closures, conduits, trays and grounding system.

For outside plant installation - based map, cables, optical nodes, amplifiers, power supplies, splitters, couplers, power inverters, closures/cabinets, poles, guying, alley arm, pedestal cabinets, hand-holes, manhole, and grounding system.

♦ One Line Diagram of Head-end System
Shall indicate the name, description and specification of the following:
Satellites for TVRO, size of satellite dish, antenna, LNB, satellite receivers, modulators, de-modulators, processors, encoders, routers, cable modem termination system (CMTS), routers, network switches, optical line termination (OLT), servers, scramblers, combiners, splitters, power dividers and other associated equipment.

♦ One Line Diagram of Distribution System
Shall indicate signal levels, attenuation losses, insertion losses and powering.

Standard Title Block
This should be provided with the Code. I'm using an A3 size dimensions (25 x 20 x 20, 20 x 15 x 15) cm.

In practice I used the following for clarity and more specific:

network, placement, mounting, characterization, legend, specification, coverage area, and bills of materials.

I have a presentation to electronics engineering students in Iligan Institute of Technology – Mindanao State University, the title “ Fire Detection and Alarm System” or FDAS. Safety is a common word we hear in industries but some of the world seems to ignore this and the obvious reason was that the city enforcement of laws are weak. The goal was to spread the awareness on RA9292, the electronics engineering law inclusion to the National Building Code which is crucial to protect building occupants from harm and prevent damage to property. There are 3 important phases of fire detection and alarm system; the time element, notification (manual and automatic alarm) and activation. The idea of FDAS was to sense signs of fire and alert personnel to prevent fire from getting bigger. Technnovation 2016

I was invited to be a judge for three students projects namely; a Solar-powered Hybrid Vending Machine, Smart Switch, and an Improved Mechanized Ice Cream mixer done by graduating electrical engineering students who participate on Iligan Institute of Technology, Mindanao State University – Innovation Convergence last August 30-31, 2016. The title of the event was 2016 Technnovation with the theme, “Advancing Technopreneurship and Innovation in Mindanao”. In parallel with other session they have these: Cluster 1 Resilient Structures, Disaster Risk Reduction and Management and Environment Cluster 2 Energy and Power Cluster 3 Health, and Pharmaceuticals Cluster 4 Food and Nutrition Cluster 5 Instrumentation and Control I am at Cluster 5 to judge the three projects, this is last August 31, 2016. Single Camera Advantages The main advantage is cost-effective, they are more budget-friendly initially. Managing and maintaining a single camera is straightforward.
